MiraMon Geographic Information System

A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a scientific and technological tool in the shape of an IT application which enables one to generate and manipulate themal and topographical digital maps, aerial photographs, satellite images, digital terrain models, large databases and connections to GPS systems. It is an indispensable tool for decision-making which takes into account aspects of territorial dynamics, such as urban growth, forest fires and other risks.

The MiraMon Geographic Information System (GIS) has been under constant development since the end of 1994. Among its features, its wide range of applications, rigorous scientific implementation and ease of use are particularly outstanding. This has made it the application of choice for research, management and territorial planning of numerous public institutions, universities and companies that work in this field. All these features make MiraMon an excellent instrument in a vast range of fields related to territorial research, planning and management.

MiraMon technology has been used by the Generalitat (Autonomous Government) of Catalonia and other institutions to publish its maps on the Internet since 1998, especially environmental maps and databases. The complete version of the program currently has over 4,000 registered users in 40 different countries. The free Internet versions have nearly 100,000 users and over sixty Internet sites mention the program.
