Training and the dissemination of knowledge acquired over time is one of the objectives of CREAF. On the one hand, the current high profile of environmental topics means that an increasing number of people wish to be informed on the subject. On the other hand, the development of new communications technologies greatly facilitates the task of disseminating and accessing information.
Since 1996, CREAF, the UAB (Autonomous University of Barcelona) and the Barcelona City Council have organized the Ecology Seminar, a series of multidisciplinary lectures which has become a permanent, open discussion forum on the environment.
One way of publicising the scientific activities carried out at CREAF is the centre’s quarterly digital newsletter.
Another way of disseminating the scientific activities of the centre is through the publication of articles and books written in a scientifically rigorous but accessible language, avoiding the technical jargon of the science of ecology.
Topics such as climate change and forest fires are addressed by esperts in an attempt to answer frequently recurring questions of universal interest.
Each year, CREAF co-organizes in conjunction with Societat Catalana de Biologia (SCB) and the Institució Catalana d'Historia Natural (ICHN) a workshop where researchers, technical experts and government representatives exchange views on a range of topics.
